i see the black sky but it is not empty
a thousand billion stars and worlds pierce the darkness
i see the dim corridor running in a slight curve
along a bulkhead with bubbled windows
and i am curled up inside one of the heavy viewports
the bulkheads and the surfaces vibrate faintly
but infrequently in an almost silent frequency
that i can feel through my fingertips
and there is no evidence that we are moving
nothing moves by the viewport
and the stars stay fixed in their positions
for hours, and days, and weeks on end
and inside the viewport i have no sense of
what is down and what is up
there is no direction and everything
is the stuff of infinity and cosmic law
i can literally see forever
and there is never ending light and
worlds in whatever direction
i choose to gaze – light forever
suddenly after a long sleep
i sense that the ship has ceased
the minute pulsing vibrations
and all is still and silent
i look out the viewport and i see
toward the aft of the ship
the brilliant starfield and worlds
that make up a part of the universe
toward the bow of the ship
i see nothing but a total
endless and engulfing blackness
devoid of even a suggestion
this is the edge of my universe
this is the never ending void
this is the eternity and the forever
this is the infinite face of God.
